Fire Fighting &Industrial Applications and Uses of FireAde 2000

Multi-Use Fire Extinguishing Agent for Rural, Urban, Wildland and Brush Fire Fighting. Plus, Applications and uses for Industrial Complexes.

Twenty years of fire fighting experience have led to the development of FIREADE 2000, an advanced technology "Extended" Emulsification, Film Forming Foam, fire suppressant that has led fire fighting into the new millennium. The emphases on "extended" relates to the prevention of combustion, for a protracted period, when in the emulsified state. FIREADE 2000 is designed for modern day fire fighting applications and equipment and is an agent that is non-hazardous, non-toxic, non-corrosive, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly.

Fire Fighting Applications

FireAde 2000 concentrate may be mixed with fresh or salt water at standard rates of .25%, 1%, 3% or 6% depending on the need.

FireAde 2000 may be used on the following firefighting categories:

Class "A" Fires

Wood • Paper • Cotton • Hay • Coal • Tires

FireAde 2000 is used on Class "A" fires in mixture ratios from 0.25% to 1%.

FireAde 2000 can be introduced into the water stream through any type of liquid concentrate proportioning devices such as:

  • In-line eductor
  • Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS)
  • On-board proportioner
  • Around-the-pump proportioner
  • Balance pressure concentrate metering system

FireAde 2000 is also very effective if pre-mixed in a pumping apparatus such as:

  • Booster tank
  • Portable ground tank
  • Hand held or backpack type pumping device
  • Forestry or garden hose unit such as the Scotty Firefighter
  • Other water supply source

Any means by which you can achieve a 0.25% mixture ratio or higher in the water stream will provide tremendous extinguishing capabilities, faster cooling, and water savings! FireAde 2000 is an excellent medium for cutting a fire path through burning fuel in order to rescue casualties or property. Having cut the path, the fuel will not re-ignite even though the fire is still burning on either side!

Class "B" Fires

Non-Polar Solvents @ 3% or 6% Dilution
Gasoline, Diesel, Jet A, JP4, JP5, JP8, Crude Oils, Kerosene, and Tires

Polar Solvents @ 6% Dilution
Methanol, Isopropyl Alcohol, and Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK)

Note: FireAde 2000 extinguishes ALL sides of the fire tetrahedron even when utilized as foam, resulting in even faster extinguishment than traditional foams. The foam blanket produced from FireAde 2000 has been designed to quickly drain after extinguishment allowing faster clean up and enabling quicker visibility and access to objects that would be covered with traditional foams.

Class "C" Fires - Electrical

DO NOT APPLY TO ENERGIZED ELECTRICAL FIRES

Class "C" includes 110, 120 or 240 volt energized electrical equipment such as wiring, fuses, breakers, inverters, converters, appliances, etc.

Note: When one of these items in not energized, the power supply has been turned off, the material left burning can be treated as a Class A fire.

12 Volt Electical Equipment - Cars, Boats and RV's
Class "C" does not include fires involving the 12-volt electrical systems and equipment found in cars, boats and RV's. These electric fires can be treated as a Class A fire.

RV and Boating Note: Once you de-energize or unhook from shore power and turn off your inverter or generator, a fire that occurs is a Class A fire rather than a Class C fire.

Class "D" Fires

Class "D" fires involve combustible metals or metals which generate their own oxygen, such as magnesium, titanium, zirconium, sodium, and potassium.

* Note: Apply 100% FireAde 2000 Concentrate to Class "D" Fires (do not dilute).

Emulsification

FIREADE 2000's emulsification properties are based on the arrangement of molecules which allow FIREADE 2000, water and a flammable liquid e.g. gasoline, to mix and encapsulate the hydrocarbon molecules. This encapsulation and elimination of ignition or re-ignition of the combustible liquid is state-of-the-art fire technology.

Note: The removal or disposal of any hazardous material treated with FIREADE 2000 must follow the local Environmental Protection Agencies (EPA) guidelines.

Heat Reduction (Radiant/Ambient)

FireAde 2000 rapidly reduces the heat component of the fire tetrahedron by reducing both radiant and ambient temperatures. FireAde 2000 reduces the surface of water, making it up to 6 times wetter, which allows the water to quickly penetrate the burning material. The cooling effect is very impressive, enabling previously hot debris to be cleared away by hand very soon after extinguishment.

Hazardous Spill Control & Clean-up

FIREADE 2000 is a valuable applicant as a spill control agent because of its ability to emulsify fuel and solvents (Polar/Non-Polar) and eliminate or reduce flammable hydrocarbon vapors on contact. This process is based on the arrangement of molecules, with a Polar (-) environment outside and a Non-Polar (+) inside the sphere when FIREADE 2000 is applied to hydrocarbon vapors and or molecules. A non-flammable dispersion is created from products that normally do not mix.

Because of its ability to emulsify fuel and solvents, FireAde 2000 eliminates or reduces risks associated with flammable hydrocarbon spills. Downtime is minimized or eliminated as spills and clean-up operations are dealt with quickly and safely with no risk of ignition.

Practical applications are found in:

  • Highway Spills
  • Auto Racetrack Spills
  • Airport Apron Spills
  • Refinery, Chemical and Industrial Spills
  • Neutralization of Spills in Storm Drains
  • Powerwashing Clean-up

Traditional Spills have had numerous steps to follow, but now, with the State of the Art Technology of FIREADE 2000 there are only two steps:

  1. Apply FIREADE 2000 to the flammable liquid and thoroughly agitate. Use standard mixing percentages 3% or 6% when agitating.
  2. Dispose of or remove hazardous material within EPA guidelines.

Remember, the ability of FIREADE 2000 to be effective as a spill control application relates back to the emulsification section.

Toxic Smoke Scrubber

The encapsulation qualities of FireAde 2000 works just as well on smoke as on liquids. The scrubbing effects of FireAde 2000 can be observed a moment after the product is applied. Dense and toxic black smoke rapidly changes to cleaner white smoke with proportionately higher water vapor content than dangerous toxins. FireAde 2000 interrupts free radical chain reaction thus preventing them from coalescing, forming soot and smoke. Less smoke and fewer toxins mean improved safety and improved visibility into working areas.

Flammable Vapor Control

Traditional Foams will only suppress vapors while the integrity of the Foam blanket is maintained. The airborne vapors that are released into the atmosphere are not affected by Foam. FIREADE 2000's ability to encapsulate hydrocarbon molecules and remain in that state for a period no less than 24 to 48 hours surpasses any traditional Foam. FIREADE 2000 will also eliminate or reduce flammable and explosive vapors in mid-air.

FIREADE 2000 requires one application, when used properly, to eliminate or reduce flammable vapors. FIREADE 2000 will rapidly reduce the Lower Explosive Level (LEL) readings below the standard explosion levels. These explosion levels will be reduced immediately on contact.

Practical applications are found in:

  • Tank Cleaning and Degreasing
  • Petrochemical Pipeline Cleaning
  • Valve Box Degassing

Bioremediation

Biodegradation of unwanted hydrocarbon molecules is sped up in brownfield sites and land reclamation projects. FireAde 2000 encapsulates the hydrocarbon molecules and suspends them in aqueous solution making them readily available to naturally occurring or synthetic micro-organisms. FireAde 2000 may be used as a vehicle to carry any specific micro-organism cocktail to meet a bioremediation program.
