FireAde 2000 Transformer Fire Demo
This Transformer Oil Fire Test was conducted by a major American Power Plant and involved setting ablaze 900 to 1,000 US gallons of kerosene. The burn area was a 3 dimensional 40 ft. x 40 ft. with a continuous flow of kerosene onto the fire at 5 gpm. |
The heat was so intense that using traditional AFFF Foam, the fire fighters had difficulty in establishing a foam blanket before it evaporated. |
In every aspect, they had more success using FireAde 2000 and the total time on scene was only 40 minutes compared to 12.5 hours in the attempt with foam. Also, using 7 US gallons of FireAde 2000 as compared to 125 US gallons of foam, represented additional savings. |
FireAde 2000 permanently extinguished the blaze in just 1 minute 24 seconds as compared to the 28 minutes it took at the first attempt using the foam. After only 30 seconds, FireAde 2000 cooled the fuel, sump and the transformer shelf by 426° C ( 800 ° F ) and the fire crew was soon able to start cleanup operations. |
